How do I save you thousands of pounds on your wedding photography?
I have been doing wedding photography across Scotland at a professional level since 1988. One of the first questions I’m always asked is “how much do you charge”? Then I’m told how they’ve been quoted ridiculous prices by high street photographers & by that I mean over £2,000!
I have never been asked if I was a qualified photographer, if I’m insured, if I pay tax or if I’m a full time wedding photographer. The answer is yes to all these questions apart from the full time wedding photographer.
I’m part time with no overheads, this is how I can charge about 75% LESS than many photographers, not because my work is less quality. If I honestly thought it would make a difference saying I was full time I could easily mislead clients but I’m not that kind of guy.
Let me clarify, a photographer who has a full time business with premesis etc has to charge far more than me, not because he’s so many times better but because it has to pay for his living & everything that goes with that.
I have a home office/studio where clients can visit for a coffee prior to booking their wedding photos & where I do all my editing so you don’t have to pay any rent for premises, electricity etc.
I have no staff you have to pay wages or pensions for. I don’t spend money on advertising as most of my work comes in by word of mouth , so you don’t have to pay for me to drive & set up a stall at wedding fayres across the country.
As this isn’t my main income the financial pressure is off, you’re not paying inflated prices to pay for my mortgage, bills, car, holidays, etc etc. I also don’t need to do 40-50 weddings a year to keep my house, this means I have more time for YOU.
Think about this, it makes perfect sense. Because of all these factors I’m usually fully booked up 1 year to 18 months in advance, that doesn’t happen if you’re not running a business properly, please read my reviews.
I’m now booking for 2019 & look forward to hearing from you for your no obligation quote.
Finally, thank you to Gordon & Marissa Reid for allowing me to use this pic from their wedding. Sports fans might recognise big Gordon, he’s currently a Scottish international rugby player.

Kim & Eddie get married
This March I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Kim & Eddie. It was a pleasure especially because I’ve known them both for many years. The beautiful Cruin on the west banks of Loch Lomond was their chosen venue. It was a great day, dry, bright & even warmish! I’ve known Kim & Eddie for a number of years so it was an honour to be asked to do the photography on their big day.
It was also a bit sad too as they’re heading off to start a new life in Spain.
Last weekend saw Jamie-Lee & Andrew’s Wedding at the beautiful Ingliston Country Club in Bishopton, Renfrewshire.
Although March weather can still be a bit cold, the sun shone all day making for some great shots. We were booked for a full day session which covers everything from bridal prep to the first dances in the evening.
The bride & her bridesmaids were staying overnight in the luxurious Ingliston wooden lodges so we managed to get some great natural & very relaxed pre wedding shots there.
We returned to Ingliston after the ceremony in Howwood where we continued with the photography, I got a great mixture of formal and informal shots which really captured all the atmosphere & happiness of the day.
Thanks very much to the bride & groom for making us feel so welcome & to the venue organisers for all their assistance.

My first wedding of 2016 got off to an early start with the wedding of Layne & Russell in the first week of a very cold February. Their wedding ceremony was at St John’s Church in Bathgate followed by the reception at The Vu, Bathgate.
Fortunately the weather stayed dry for the most part which allowed for some nice photo opportunities out on the small jetty in the grounds of The Vu, the weather didn’t hold long enough for family group shots outside and it started to rain, this lasted for the rest of the evening.
Again, fortunately, I had packed my portable studio set up for such
events. This allowed me to get studio style portraits of the wedding party in a quickly arranged clearing in the reception hall, these worked out well. There is a tight schedule for guests arriving then meal times etc at this venue, this is where experience & professionalism make sure I get the best shots I possibly can.
Bride & groom said they had a fantastic day & they certainly looked like they enjoyed it.
2015 has been Our Day Photo’s busiest year ever, we have travelled all over Scotland & have met so many fantastic people in wonderful locations and venues. With 2016 now fully booked we are looking forward to 2017 & beyond!

I’m Just catching up with this year’s wedding blogs. This is Laura & Craig who were married in early April this year at Ralston Golf Course in Paisley, Glasgow.
It was a fantastic day, very relaxed & everything ran smoothly despite the freezing cold weather, especially during the photos on the golf course but everyone looked great against a back drop of some early cherry blossom. Congratulations to you both and thank you for using Our Day Photos.
I like taking a mixture of both candid & formal shots at weddings, that way you get all the important guests that MUST be photographed & all the fun ones too. The candid aspect is great for getting the shots of the real stars of the day, the kids!
Packages are available from only £299 & with my top package you also get a free pre wedding photoshoot at the location of your choice, free printed photo book & a free A3 canvas print of your choice either from the pre wedding shoot or from your wedding photographs.
Previous customers have booked their wedding photography with Our Day Photos well in advance, I’m now well into taking bookings for 2016 & 2017 so don’t hang about!
